Frameboard
At first sight, the Frameboard seems like a timeless rack with subtle graphic elements and unobstrusive proportions. The distinctiveness of the design, however, only becomes apparent by using the Frameboard, as the simple mechanism of the sliding doors is automatically generating a surprising effect:
By opening and closing the sliding doors, an optical illusion is created; the graphic begins to move and starts to become a 5-frame animation. The deliberate simple graphic, creates a red straight line that starts to oscillate and turns into a sine wave. By snapping the sliding doors into the side of the rack, a simple straight line appears again. The composite material of the front door, made of wood and transparent acrylics (DUOplex), works like a stencil, which is always hiding 4 out of 5 motion sequences.
