Fraktal Paravent

Oiled oak frame, textile, copper wire, ground wire;
for #offline at Spazio Pulpo, 2017

For centuries, the paravent has offered the possibility of having a portable private space. While in past, we used it mainly to protect our privacy from curious eyes, nowadays we’re confronted with an additional kind of observation – the outside world is watching us within the walls of our homes through virtual eyes. The fractal antenna which is stitched onto the panels protects its owner from electromagnetic radiation. The cyber paravent beats the devil at his own game using a similar antenna that mobile phones use for better signal. The three frames are connected to each other forming the copper pattern to a single unique wire curve that can be earthed with the ground wire.
